Myofascial Decompression

MFD (Myofascial Decompression) is a technique that targets tight or dense soft tissue and the movement problems they can cause. If these issues aren’t treated, movement may stay limited and less effective. MFD helps improve motion by loosening the fascia and retraining how the muscles and nerves work together.

  • MFD focuses on finding and fixing movement problems. A strong understanding of body movement and muscles helps spot and treat limited range of motion and muscle imbalances and involves the patient actively in their recovery.

Traditional cupping (based on principles of traditional Chinese medicine) typically don't involve active movement and is usually aimed at balancing energy flow.

  • Fascia is a thin, strong layer of connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, bones, and organs. In physiotherapy, it's important because restrictions in the fascia can lead to pain, stiffness, and poor movement, so treating it helps improve mobility and overall function.

  • Myofascial decompression is unique because it lifts tight or stuck tissues using movement, rather than pressing down on them like most other techniques. When tissues become stiff or tangled, blood flow and healing can be reduced—so gently pulling on them helps improve circulation, movement, and recovery more effectively.

Comprehensive Treatment Plan

Manual Therapy, Exercise Prescription, Accupunture, EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation), MFD (Myofascial Decompression), and LLLT (Low Level Laser Therapy) can all play key roles in a comprehensive physiotherapy plan.

When combined with a personalized exercise prescription tailored to each person’s specific needs and goals, these treatments work together to restore mobility, improve function, and speed up recovery for long-term results.
