Joint Venture

Active Exercise Program for People with Osteoarthritis

Start Date: June 18th

Join us for 6 weeks of group classes every Wednesday at 3 PM and Friday at 1 PM!

Through targeted exercise therapy and education, we work to:

  • Prevent or delay total joint replacement surgery when possible

  • Provide pre-rehabilitation (prehab) to strengthen muscles, improve and maintain mobility and prepare for better surgical recovery if joint replacement is necessary

  • Reduce pain and improved joint function through targeted exercise exercises geared towards osteoarthritis and pacing

  • Educate participants on effective self management strategies

  • Improve overall quality of life and mobility

How Does it Work?

STEP 1 - Book your Assessment

You will start with an Assessment with a Registered Physiotherapist to determine suitability for the program and your personal goals. The cost of this Assessment is $145 and includes treatment for your condition.

If requested, a re-assessment at program completion may be done.

STEP 2 - Sign-up for Classes

The next step is sign up for the group. Each 50min class will cost $25CAD and can be paid for per class or in a lump sum. The group program begins on June 18th, 2025 and runs Wednesdays 3pm and Fridays 1pm. Enjoy the benefits of accountability and community support!

Is it right for me?

You may be interested because you have a clinical diagnosis of Osteoarthritis, have diagnostic evidence (x-rays, etc…), are a pre or post surgical joint replacement patient, have symptoms (persistent joint pain, stiffness, or functional limitations), or are of a certain age group (50+) — though early OA can affect some young people.

Program Eligibility

  1. Diagnosis of Osteoarthritis

  2. Clearance by primary health provider (if any major illnesses or red flags)

  3. Completion of Physiotherapy Assessment

  4. Ability to participate in a group exercise setting (with modifications if necessary)

  • You may still get enormous benefit from this program from an early intervention or education-based perspective. Because of our small group class size, we can help you with prevention, exercise modification, and joint protection.

  • Not at all. In Ontario, physiotherapy is under a direct referral system, meaning you don't need a doctor's referral to see a physiotherapist.

  • For the Assessment — If you have extended health insurance you may want to verify the details of your plan to see if you are entitled to claim Physiotherapy services.

For the Group Fitness Classes — Some plans MAY cover group based exercise, and if you have a health spending account you may use those funds for class payment. Please call your insurance company for details.
